Do you live on or near a stream that flows into a lake?
As 7 Lakes Alliance did in 2021, we are seeking to better understand how much phosphorus enters the lakes from streams. To that end, 7 Lakes needs volunteers to "adopt" a stream through April. This will involve collecting a sample from the stream once a day or every other day, depending on the volunteer's convenience. 7 Lakes provides the sample vials and instructions on how to collect samples. At the end of April, we will collect the samples for analysis at Colby College.
Below is a list of priority streams in the watershed. If you live near a smaller stream that runs brown in the spring, we can add it to the list. (Note: These sites were chosen based on estimated flow rates from the U.S. Geological Survey. Local knowledge is typically superior, so we can update this list with the public's input.)
