The Belgrade Lakes are now under attack from harmful algae and invasive plants, and the open spaces we hold dear – both wetlands and highlands – are under constant threat of development. Remedying these problems before they do great damage will require more cooperation, increased collaboration, and far greater resources to insure that our children and grandchildren enjoy the pristine lakes and lands of our youth, that our natural resources-based economy continues to flourish, and that the Belgrade Lakes Region remains a healthy and uniquely beautiful place to live, grow, and enjoy a high quality of life.
