ABOUT THE MUSICIAN

Maine singer/songwriter Sara Trunzo has a deep, abiding love for the land and people of the rural Northeast, and this serves as the common thread of her full-length debut, Dirigo Attitude, released in May. A follow-up to her debut EP, Thanks Birdie, released in 2017, Dirigo Attitude is an empowering manifesto on self-sufficiency and perseverance that benefits from the mastery of Grammy-nominated producer Erick Jaskowiak and Americana heavyweights Mary Gauthier and Darrell Scott, who lend vocals to, respectively, “In the Bend of the Cumberland” (reached #14 on the Folk DJ Chart) and “Food and Medicine,” (reached #3 on the folks DJ Chart) which garnered first place in the 2018 Maine Songwriters Association song competition. The record reached #22 on the same chart, as of April 2019.

Trunzo’s Maine-grown country songs are influenced by the decade she spent running a food bank farm. She delivers each song with the credibility of someone who is intimately aware of the stories she tells, and her no-frills, no-nonsense lyrics cut to the bone of the everyday struggles and triumphs of rural people in the Northeast. Sara Trunzo has toured nationally and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee and Unity, Maine and on the road.
