Get ready to “Buff up!” at the North Pond Association's 6th Annual Are You Buff Enough? – How To Become LakeSmart-er Workshop!
Learn about LakeSmart, a homeowner education and reward program encouraging lake-friendly landscaping, and other lake-friendly practices and projects around the Belgrade Lakes. Workshop participants who own property near the lakeshore can sign up for a 7 Lakes Alliance Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) project. The YCC will assess your property and design effective Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce erosion and run-off into our lakes preventing nutrient loading that can contribute to excess algae growth. Our Keynote Speaker will be Charlie Baeder, 7 Lakes Alliance, who brings his vast experience in directing DEP 319 grant projects and protecting the lakes through identifying and evaluating erosion sites to the Buffer Workshop.
Everyone is welcome to attend! If you own shoreline property on North and Little Ponds, this workshop will help you to qualify for a North Pond Association Watershed Financial Award, and you may collect a free buffer plant! If you would like a plant, please let Linda know when you register. You must pick up your plant at the Fairview Grange in Smithfield on Saturday, July 11th between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m.
