Hunting season is underway, including on some of the lands conserved by 7 Lakes Alliance and the State of Maine (within the bounds of state hunting laws).
Hikers can best protect themselves by wearing blaze orange or some other unnatural fluorescent color when walking through the Maine woods this fall and winter. Additionally, for those who hike with their dogs, 7 Lakes urges you to keep your pet on a leash and to attach blaze orange to your dog, as well, so it is not mistaken for a game animal.
