About The Event

Warm water floats: The physics of lakes and what it means for water quality in the Belgrades!

By popular request, we are holding a series of short webinars that break down the basics of water quality. In the first session, we will explore why lakes become stratified, why other lakes mix, and what this means for water quality in the Belgrades! We will also discuss measuring temperature profiles and Secchi disk transparency, the two key factors in determining lake stratification, and trends in stratification and water clarity that led to the listing of Great Pond as impaired, as well as trends in the other lakes.

** Our Great Pond Water Quality and Watershed Management webinar has been postponed for now; watch for this in the future!
