About The Event

Join us in improving and maintaining one of our newest hiking trails, the Blaisdell Trail! Being such a newly cut trail, these workdays will focus on addressing the issues that have arisen as a few seasons have passed. Trees need to be removed from the trail corridor, several small bridges need to be built, and drainage structures need to be cleaned, reshaped, or established.

Tasks will include:

  • Pruning trees and bushes along the trail corridor
  • Building wooden bridges in several areas
  • Building rock structures on the trail to harden the tread and improve drainage
  • Removing loose rocks in the trail
  • Clearing downed trees and logs along the trail where necessary
  • Picking up trash and debris along the road and trail

What to bring:

  • Work gloves, sturdy work shoes
  • Water
  • Lunch/snacks
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen and appropriate clothing to be out in the sun!
  • Hearing protection and eye protection if you have it (7 Lakes staff may be running a chainsaw)

Tools you could bring (7 Lakes will provide tools as well)

  • Loppers
  • Hand saw
  • Hatchet or small axe
  • Rake or hoe
  • Rock bar

Driving Directions to Trailhead: We will meet at the Quill Hill Trailhead, on Drury Lane in Rome. Turn south of Rte. 225 onto Drury Lane, then the trailhead will be on your left in 0.2 miles or so. Look for a sign that says “Quill Hill” with the 7 Lakes logo.
