Photography has been historically associated with conservation and environmentalism, as "one picture can be worth a thousand words." Belgrade photographer Elise Klysa will discuss this history and share her images of the Belgrade Lakes region throughout the seasons designed to inspire and promote appreciation for our beautiful surroundings.
Elise Klysa Bio
Elise Klysa is a 2021 First PlacePrize winner at the prestigious Maine Photography Show Photography Show in Boothbay in the “Community Celebrations” category. She was the grand prize winner in Down East Magazine’s 2018 Reader’s Choice contest in the lifestyle category. In addition to Down East Magazine, her work has also been featured in Yankee Magazine, the Portland Press Herald and the Central Maine newspapers.
Earning a professional certificate in visual storytelling from Maine Media College and Workshop in Camden, she’s worked professionally as a freelance photographer for Central Maine Newspapers, New England Music Camp in Sidney and Colby College. Her photos were selected for permanent display at MaineGeneral Health and is on display at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Center for Health and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care.
She is also frequent exhibitor, and her work was included in the “Everyday Maine” traveling exhibit, and featured in the L.C. Bates Museum and MaineMedia’s Rockport Gallery.
Elise lives in Belgrade, where she can be found photographing lupine and loon in the summer, foliage in the fall and snowstorms in the winter. She work can be found at www.eliseklysa.net
