In the Moon's Shadow, a prime prototype of independent filmmaking, was two years in the making and was shot in two locations, the Belgrade Lakes region of Central Maine and the Sand Hills of Nebraska. It had its world premiere at the Maine International Film Festival in July 2019 where it played to sold out performances and appreciative audiences.
In the Moon's Shadow uses the solar eclipse of 2017 to climax a story focusing on seeing familiar things in a very different light, a metaphor for the effect of an eclipse.
Debra Lord Cooke and Elissa Piszel, the stars of the film, play the estranged sisters. The beautiful lakes of Maine and the rolling plains of Nebraska provide a stunning backdrop for the film and the eclipse. The soundtrack of In the Moon's Shadow features a vibrant original composition by Lady Lamb.
